10 mins walk - some steep sections. Bear gently right on exiting station to the car park exit, passing the rear of Stone's car show room. At the mini-roundabout turn left, walk 50 metres and then take the first turning left. Walk through the car park passing the toilets (on your right) and St Margaret's Hall on your left. Cross the foot bridge over the river Avon and turn right. Walk to end of Church Street passing the Lloyds and HSBC banks. Use pedestrian crossing at HSBC and then turn right. After 15 metres turn left into the Shambles. Walk to the end of the Shambles and bear left; Bunch of Grapes is 40 metres up the (steep) hill (Silver Street) on the left. |

8 mins walk. On exiting station turn left (if you've arrived from Weymouth direction keep left, crossing bridge back over rail line) onto Stallard Street towards Town Centre. Use pedestrian crossings at the first junction (with Bythsea Rd) but continue straight on, crossing bridge. Keep to pavement as road becomes Wicker Hill, bears round to right, and becomes Castle Street. Pub is on right, just after entrance to the Shires shopping centre. |

The pub is about a mile away - walking time around 35 mins, all fairly level. If he's not too busy, the landlord may be able to pick up small groups from the station - phone ahead to find out. Taxi rank in front of station, and half hourly buses. Using the bus: Exit left out of station buildings and at end of station approach road turn right onto main road. Cross road (v. carefully!) for bus stop to town - X5 or X6 bus. Ask for 'Eastleigh surgery' (3rd bus stop) on corner of West End Road. Turn left into West End Road, take second right into Market Place and immediately left into Alfred Street. Pub is a couple of mins further along on right. Walking: Exit left out of station buildings and at end of station approach road turn right onto main road. Continue straight ahead, under rail bridge, crossing two roundabouts before reaching a third one after just over half a mile. Turn left here into West End Road and follow above directions given in bold type. |

At top of alley turn left and (crossing road with great care) turn right into Coombe Street. Pub is a short walk up on the right. |

No pavement, so please take care on this country lane - single file facing oncoming traffic is safest. After passing a garage on left there is a pavement. Continue into village and pub is ahead of you on left side of road. |

It is possible to go first left and then right onto road, but safer to turn right into Chapel Lane, and follow this round a U shaped bend (passing old Methodist Church) and then turn right onto High Street. After passing Oak House Stores, pub is a short distance ahead on the right. |

Passing village Hall on left, continue ahead until you see the village cross, where you bear left (Post Office on right). At T-junction with main road turn left, and the pub is up on the right. Wheelchair users will need to use the wooden crossing over the rail tracks on arrival or departure - please pay special attention to the signals and instructions. Apart from station approach road, the route is on the level, although parts of the pavement are somewhat narrow and uneven. |
