Extraordinarily picturesque, historic inn beside the "fresh ford". The creative, gourmet menu is a major draw for both locals and visitors. Real ales include, at time of writing, Butcombe, Courage Best, Bass and 6X. The unspoilt, honey-stoned village is worth a quick tour before you leave again - up the hill, passing the right turn to the station. Freshford water and air are so pure, that wealthy Bath residents sent their laundry to be done here in the C19th (by rail, of course!).
